What Is Chronic Pain Management?

Chronic physical illness can have a life-changing effect on your wellbeing, functional capability and quality of life. Depression and/or anxiety disorders (as either a cause or a consequence of the physical illness) may increase the severity of the symptoms and add to your distress

Pain Management is a type of talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment with others who also experience chronic pain.

We deliver sessions in a group setting in different venues across Tees

The programme usually lasts for 6 weeks and is delivered weekly for 1 hour

How Can This Help Me?

Pain can make you tired, anxious, depressed and grumpy. This can make the pain even worse, making you fall into a downward spiral. Be kinder to yourself. Living with pain isn’t easy and you can be your own worst enemy by being stubborn, not pacing your activities every day and not accepting your limitations.

NHS Choices provides some useful tips to help managing pain alongside The British Pain Society who help healthcare professionals to help people living with pain.
