Mindfulness Programme

The delivery of the programme is introduced to the children in the form of stories. They involve a group of young squirrels or kits who face a lot of problems such as anger issues, nervousness and short attention spans.

By practising with the guidance of an ancient but wise old squirrel called Old Ma, children, in company with the young kits, may learn to pause and ground themselves in the present moment, and in time, learn to support themselves when feeling stressed or worried.

Let’s Get Started

A comprehensive introduction to the practicalities of smoothly and effectively introducing Mindfulness for Kits into your school and classes.

Story One

Mindfulness Tool – Feet on Ground
Mindfulness Story – Old Ma

Hobb was always in trouble, but he didn’t understand why. He just kept losing his temper and going wild but what did they expect! After all, he was a young squirrel.

Story Two

Mindfulness Tool – Hand On Belly Breathe and Hand Breathing
Mindfulness Story – Hobb

Each day, Hobb had to go and see Old Ma. His mum insisted.

Hobb, however, pretended that he hated going particularly to his mates who would make faces at him, point to one of his eyes and pretend to pull it out. It was true that he would like to be playing with them, but he found Old Ma fascinating.

Story Three

Mindfulness Tool – Finger Climbing
Mindfulness Story – Peace

Hobb’s sister was a member of the Squirrel Alert Squad which meant that she and her friends where given the task of noticing and reporting to senior squirrels any important changes to their
home, the forest.

This might include the arrival of new animals which could be harmless to squirrels or indeed very dangerous.

Story Four

Mindfulness Tool – Allow your Attention to Bubble
Mindfulness Story – Si

Si was a nervous young squirrel and was quite alarmed when his mum suggested he join the Alert Squad because he knew that scary Old Ma was one of the instructors and this made him feel very worried.

Hobb had, for some reason, kept very quiet about Old Ma’s friendly ways leaving Si very anxious as his mind made up stories about her terrible scars and frightening eyeball which made him want to blink each time he saw her

Story Five

Mindfulness Tool – The Mindfulness Salute
Mindfulness Story – The Mindfulness Salute

Hobb’s sister was a member of the Squirrel Alert Squad which meant that she and her friends where given the task of noticing and reporting to senior squirrels any important changes to their
home, the forest.

This might include the arrival of new animals which could be harmless to squirrels or indeed very dangerous.
