What To Expect

We understand that calling a counselling service and asking for help isn’t easy.

You will speak with one of our trained team who will offer you understanding, compassion and respect. We will ask you for some basic details to help match you with a therapist and will make it easy to arrange appointments at the best possible time and place. There may be times when you feel like you don’t want to speak in-person with a counsellor or have difficulty getting to one of our venues so as well as face-to-face counselling Alliance offers a range of flexible telephone counselling options.

Continuity of care is really important for building a trusting and understanding relationship so you will usually work with the same counsellor from start to finish. There is usually a maximum number of sessions that your employer will provide but you can decide how to spread those sessions for maximum benefit.

Confidentiality

The counselling service is completely confidential and your counsellor will explain this to you in your first session. No information goes back to work or your GP and nothing can be disclosed about your therapy without your consent.

There may be circumstances where you counsellor needs to discuss an aspect of your case with someone else. This would only be done with a very specific reason:

Information security

Clinical information is stored on a secure database. Should you wish to access your records under the Data Protection Act, you can make a request in writing to the service manager.

Privacy Policy

We regard your privacy as important and any personal information you give to us will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulations.

We do not store personal information about individuals who visit this site except where they provide contact information via our contact us page and contact forms available on various pages throughout the website.
