Integrative counselling is a talking therapy that encourages you to talk about problems and feelings to gain awareness, understanding and clarity about how things are affecting you. In identifying the root causes of the current situation, clients are empowered to work towards their own solutions. A course of therapy is tailored to the individual, determined by their goals and understanding.
Counselling can be delivered face-to-face at any of our bases in the North East. Face-to-face counselling is the most popular of our services. We can also deliver counselling therapy by telephone for staff living remotely or who might prefer to speak from the comfort of their own home.

Transactional Analysis is a widely-recognised form of modern psychotherapy providing a brief, structured therapy to examine past drivers and emotions that are influencing the client’s behaviour in the present. It is particularly useful for examining communication within a rank structure where two communicators fulfil parent and child roles. TA is used in relationship counselling, disputes within teams as well as to analyse self-esteem and emotional regulation.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses very much on the ‘here and now’ and aims to increase awareness of the interplay between thoughts, feelings and behaviours in any given situation. Clients become aware of negative or unhelpful thinking styles that provoke negative interpretations and behaviours. The client and therapist may agree particular tasks to complete between sessions, including research, worksheets or behavioural challenges.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is mainly used for individuals who have experienced trauma and are struggling with a stress or trauma reaction. The goal of therapy is to process distressing memories to reduce the feelings of distress associated with them and allow clients to return to normal function. Clients will be asked to think about a situation or an idea while following a moving light or finger with their eyes. The therapeutic effect can also be achieved with vibration or by asking clients to tap with their fingers.
