Neuro Natter: Our Employee Network Group
To support colleagues at Alliance Psychological Services, our Wellbeing Champion Allan formed the Neuro Natter Group. The groups meets monthly on Microsoft Teams, so everyone across the business can join. The group provides invaluable support to all our colleagues across the organisation and we recently spoke with Allan to find out more.
When and why was the Neuro Natter Group formed?
The Neuro Natter drop-in group was established in March 2025 to provide staff with a supportive space to talk, share experiences and exchange good practice. It is a closed group open only to staff members and operates approximately once a month.
The group was created following conversations with neurodivergent colleagues who sought advice, signposting and support with reasonable adjustments. As the service’s Neurodivergent Champion, Allan, recognised a growing number of staff receiving diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, and identified a need for a safe environment where they could discuss day-to-day challenges and coping strategies. Neuro Natter offers that space, one focused on staff wellbeing rather than client-related issues, which can be addressed with Allan, separately during the working week.
What has been some of the outcomes from the group?
Early successes include an increase in staff confidence to speak openly about their neurodivergence. We have also purchased timer clocks and fidget tools for each site, available for both staff and clients. These will be accompanied by signposting information and a brief guide to reasonable adjustments that can be implemented during client sessions.
Alongside this, we have been contributing to the development of the Wellbeing Hub in collaboration with HR, colleagues and Jo, who is leading work on training that highlights the reasonable adjustments available to both new and existing staff.
What does the group hope to achieve next?
Looking ahead, our aim is to fully establish the Alliance Hub and continue offering regular Neuro Natter sessions. Our ongoing commitment is to ensure Alliance Psychological Services remains an inclusive and supportive workplace for all staff and clients.
