Schools Being Mindful presents a series of online programmes to support student and staff mental wellbeing by introducing a Mindfulness culture within the school, or college community, and the home environment.
“A child’s world appears to be more complex and challenging than ever before. Research appears to indicate that stress and anxiety levels in children are increasing year on year, while the impact of electronic distractions, including social media, have been directly linked to an array of problems including poor relationship issues and low self-esteem. A child’s mind can become a ‘battleground’ overloaded with almost continuous stimulation leading to mental fatigue, a lack of sleep and difficulty in paying attention.”.

OUR MINDFULNESS PROGRAMMES

A 6-week course designed for children aged between 7 and 10. This initial course focuses on teaching skills associated with ‘grounding’ and self-regulation.

The course designed for students aged between 11 and 18 is divided into modules which progressively develop the skills of mindfulness within the context of a trauma sensitive approach.

Being Mindful4 Teachers, is a teacher led course (delivered online). Consisting of six sessions, each one of the one hour duration which explores in greater depth many of the techniques introduced in the various programmes.
SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE DELIVERY
The Alliance Schools Being Mindful programmes are designed to be delivered by teachers with little or NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

We would, however, recommend that staff become familiar with the course structure and the mindfulness tools introduced by attending one of our pre-course delivery orientation sessions.
MEETS GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE
We do this by linking a greater awareness of thoughts and emotions, with the invitation to take a mindful pause. Children are taught the skill of grounding their attention in the felt sensations of the body whether in the feet or the hands or by using one of the other techniques introduced to the children during the weekly sessions.
