Welcome! We know that parenting a child who’s struggling with emotional health can be really tough and worrying. You’re not alone in this—we’re here to help you every step of the way. Getting the right support at the right time can make all the difference, and we’ve got resources and tips to guide you and your child through these challenges. Together, we can work towards better emotional wellbeing for your family!

Where can I go for help?

We provide a wide range of emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children and young people across Tees Valley. This includes support in schools and communities, as well as Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in Hartlepool and Stockton.

We work closely with educational settings and trusted local organisations, bringing together a wealth of experience to make sure children and young people get the right support, at the right time.

A good first step is to speak with your child’s school about your concerns. Many schools have a Senior Mental Health Lead or a Designated Emotional Health and Wellbeing Lead who can listen and guide you.

Wysa App

Wysa is a free, confidential NHS-approved mental health app for young people aged 13 to 18 (or 11+ with parental support). It includes an AI chatbot, mood tracking and resilience tools. You can download the app via the App Store or Google Play.

Once downloaded, enter a referral code: tsidecyp2025 when asked.

You can find out if our service is active in your child’s school.

Support for Children with Neurological Differences

If you’re concerned that your child may have a neurological difference like ASD or ADHD, we’re here to help—whether or not they have a formal diagnosis. In Tees Valley, we adopt a needs-led approach, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive. If your child is also facing anxiety or low mood, they can still access our services.

We know that waiting for assessments and diagnoses can be stressful, but it shouldn’t prevent you from seeking the help your child needs. We encourage you to check out your local family hubs, which often hold multi-agency information sessions. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity to access advice and guidance from a range of services, including SENDIASS, CAMHS, the Mental Health in Schools Team, Daisy Chain and Early Help, among others.

Remember, you’re not alone in this, and we’re here to support you and your child every step of the way. For more information, please visit NHS North East and North Cumbria Neurodevelopment Pathway.
