Clinical Supervision

Supervision is a safe relational space for therapists to be reflective, creative and develop their clinical
practice, to consider how we can help children and young people feel safe to reconnect with themselves, recover and increase their resilience through the therapeutic relationship

To ensure ethical practice, reflective supervision offers the opportunity to explore client and therapist process, including transference and countertransference. As well as discussions around safeguarding, confidentiality, and clinical guidance, to ensure client safety and best practice.


Alliance Psychology supervisors have the skills and knowledge to enable therapists to develop existing
skills as well as enable growth, increasing understanding and offer support for therapists.

Reflective Supervision and consultation will comprise of:

  • Exploring regulation to help children and young people to engage i.e. polyvagal theory.
  • Attachment and relational work.
  • Window of Tolerance and understanding neuroscience of the brain and how trauma and stress impact upon clients.
  • Understanding and working with trauma.
  • To consider how the After Care Plan of a client is implemented with families, schools and other professionals involved to enable sustainable changes.
  • Grief and loss model
  • Understanding the impact of shame on relationships, the individual and the process.
  • Theories within counselling ie Gestalt, Transactional analysis, unconditional positive regard, child development etc.
  • Exploring vicarious trauma and self care.
  • Exploring other services who may be able to offer support.
