What happens next?

You will be offered an appointment for a telephone assessment usually within 5 days of you or your GP contacting us. In some circumstances a face to face assessment may be more beneficial to you. We can see you in your GP practice or at a central location in Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool or Redcar.

The assessment usually takes around 20-30 minutes and we will ask you questions about you and your support networks, the difficulties that you are experiencing and what your expectations are from therapy.  This is to help us determine which support is best for you. We take your confidentiality very seriously and this will be discussed with you in more detail at assessment. Following your assessment you will be placed on a waiting list for therapy to commence.

In some cases, more information is required before we can truly assess whether we are the right fit for you. In these instances, you may be invited to attend a following assessment with a qualified member of the team to discuss a little further how we can best meet your needs.

If our service does not feel like the right fit for you we can help to signpost you to other services which may fit your needs more appropriately (such as; CGL, Housing, Financial Support, Employment, Social Prescribing and Secondary Services)

How long will I wait?

We aim to provide you with a date to start your therapy within 28 days and will try to accommodate your needs around best times and venues. Depending upon when and where you can attend for your appointments will affect how long you will have to wait.

Following the initial assessment we would arrange a follow up call to offer any additional support (including self help material), confirm your goals and get an update on how you are feeling.

Once an appointment is available you will be informed of the date, time and place of your appointment.  It is vital that you let us know if you cannot make this appointment.  You will be allocated a therapist who will work with you throughout the course of your therapy.

How long does therapy last for?

Therapy is tailored to suit your needs however in our experience usually lasts between 6-8 sessions. However, some people feel that they have overcome their difficulties in 3 or 4 sessions and some may need longer term support.  We will review your therapy at each session using a simple tool so that we can be sure that therapy is working for you.
